| THE PLACE |

The DIOMEDE cellar can be found in Canosa
di Puglia, an ancient city based, according to legend, on
Homer's hero Diomedes. Canosa was a flourishing city already
by the 7th century BC, and rich and powerful enough to make
an alliance with Rome and to become for the Romans a place
of great strategic importance, a city to be reckoned with.
And like a sponge, Canosa's subsoil, the depository of the
precious traces of this history, first absorbed them then
slowly released them through the ages up to the present day.
The peculiarity and indubitable fascination of the place lies
in its museum-like quality which, rather than being shut away
in rooms, is made up of endless and sudden discoveries, and
each time the importance of the past emerges as a living entity.
